Call for Temporary Teaching and Research Assistant Positions

PLASMAScience Graduate School launches its call for Temporary Teaching and Research Assitant Positions. ​

PLASMAScience Graduate School will fund three six-month Temporary Teaching and Research Assistant positions in 2026 (equivalent to ATER positions in French universities).

This six-month funding will allow early-career PhD graduates (up to one year after their PhD defence) to join one of the PLASMAScience laboratories (CMAP, CPHT, LOA, LPICM, LPP, LSI, LULI) for a short-term research project, or to finalize their current research work and publications, while contributing to plasma physics teaching activities at IP Paris.

CTER contracts

Contract period: from October 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027.

This period coincides with the teaching activities of the Master’s programs.

The following teaching programs are eligible for CTER teaching assignments:

  • laboratory work in Master 2 PPF (Plasma Physics and Fusion) and/or Master 2 GI-PLATO (Large Devices – Plasmas-Lasers-Tokamak Accelerators);
  • plasma physics courses at the Cycle ingénieur polytechnicien or Master 1 level;
  • bachelor-level programs and student tutoring;
  • contributions to PLASMAScience scientific outreach and mediation activities, as well as to the organisation of PLASMAScience scientific events.

Eligibility

Candidates must:

  • be completing a PhD thesis in the field of plasma physics;
  • provide an expected PhD defence date;
  • conduct plasma physics research in one of the PLASMAScience laboratories (CMAP, CPHT, LOA, LPICM, LPP, LSI, LULI) during the contract period.

Key dates and application procedure

April 30th, 2026: application deadline.

May 2026: application evaluation by the PLASMAScience scientific committee.

June 2026: results announcement.
