Call for Master scholarships in plasma physics

PLASMAScience Graduate School offers excellence scholarships to outstanding French and international students.

The PLASMAScience Graduate School is offering 11 excellence scholarships to highly motivated and talented French and international students enrolling in one of the following Master’s programs at Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris):

  • Master 2 in Physics of Plasmas and Fusion
  • Master 2 in Large Facilities (Plasma specialties)

Scholarship recipients will also have the opportunity to complete a 5-month internship in internationally renowned research laboratories, preparing them to meet tomorrow’s scientific challenges.

Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), one of France’s leading institutions in fundamental science and research, is located in the Paris area (Palaiseau campus) and attracts top students from around the world.

Scholarship funding details

The scholarship package includes:

  • a €10,000 grant for the 2026-2027 academic year, awarded to students admitted to either the Master 2 in Physics of Plasmas and Fusion or the Master 2 in Large Facilities (Plasma specialties) at IP Paris;
  • a research stipend for the 5-month internship in one of IP Paris’s 7 host laboratories, which cover a wide range of plasma physics topics: CMAP, CPHT, LOA, LPICM, LPP, LSI, LULI.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • hold a Master 1 degree in Physics (or equivalent), obtained in France or abroad;
  • be enrolled in either the Master 2 in Physics of Plasmas and Fusion or the Master 2 in Large Facilities (Plasma specialties) at IP Paris for the 2026-2027 academic year;
  • have been admitted by the pedagogical committee of the respective program.

How to apply?

The PLASMAScience Scholarship Program is open to highly motivated and outstanding students. The selection process is competitive.

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  • a curriculum vitae (CV);
  • a cover letter;
  • academic transcripts (current year and the two previous years);
  • copies of diplomas;
  • two academic references (with contact details);
  • a recent color passport-size photograph;
  • a copy of passport or national ID card;
  • the completed application form.
